Rachel Cutcliffe was managing a buzzing Sydney café in 2010 when a customer offered to teach an after-hours yoga class to soothe aching muscles and relieve stress. From the first pose she was hooked! To pursue this love affair further, she then travelled to Vancouver where she completed her teacher training with Semperviva Yoga. Now, Rachel runs her own studio based on her years of training that's fuelled by her desire to create a yoga community where people can unwind, reconnect with themselves and make space amongst the busyness of their lives. With three young children, Rachel knows firsthand the physical and mental demands of being a busy mother/wife/woman. But she believes that through the practice of yoga, you can create more space for yourself. Once you have that space, you can really nut out what's important to you and anything that falls short of that can be let go. Having more space means that you crave more of the good stuff in life. The feeling of contentment and elation that Rachel gets after a yoga class is the reason she is passionate about teaching others yoga. It also kickstarts energy which gives her the physical and mental strength to take on the day and all its dramas. Rachel found yoga to be most valuable during and after her pregnancies. She is a staunch supporter of postnatal practice as each pose helped her to reconnect with fragile muscles, taught her the benefits of the breath and saved those precious pelvic floor muscles! As a mother, Rachel knows that it's common to use lack of time as an excuse for lack of exercise. But once again taking an hour out for a yoga class can create time - and is even an exercise that kids can be involved in! A teacher of yoga always continues to be a student. Rachel is currently studying with Mysan Sidbo at Mysan Yoga Sanctuary in Kincumber. In previous years Rachel has loved studying with Bianca Machliss at Yoga Synergy and carries their style and philosophies into her own practice and teaching today. She encourages anyone from any exercise background, occupation, ability and age to discover how good you can and should feel through yoga. |
